Writing a letter is a personal way to connect with another person. A slowing down and giving consideration to the words chosen, the mood conveyed. The slant and size of the letters and visual execution speak to the personality of the writer. Today few correspond by hand due to texting, phone calls and emails. Even social media has turned once long cherished letters that were read repeatedly into a 30 second flash of perfection creating anxiety among many youth because they don’t feel they live up to this impossible standard. This work investigates the slow thoughtful handwritten vs. the digital age. The art of writing letters is dying, though I will continue write them.
